Brief Overview

The SPICA range of products that we offer can implement a Time & Attendance Solution, a Logged Access Control Solution and/or a combination of both using the same range of hardware and software.

These State-Of-The-Art Intelligent Data Collection Terminals meet all the modern demands placed on such devices

They feature a 2-line LCD display, a programmable keyboard, a real-time clock, optically coupled RS485 and RS232 interfaces, Ethernet Connectivity and Wireless GSM Modem Connectivity for remote sites. They support transparent terminal networking, have battery supported RAM, and an integrated interface for the control of electric locks and sensor inputs for logging alarms such as door sensors, fire alarms etc. They can operate on-line or off-line with automatic recognition of On-Line and Off-Line states.

The casing is made of hard ABS plastic and fits unobtrusively into the environment.

Readers
Terminals can be installed with a variety of Proximity (RFID) reading technologies, Magnetic Swipe and the ultimate Biometrics Fingerprint Recognition or in a hybrid fashion offering possibilities to mix between reader technlogies.

Special Event Monitoring Capabilities
Besides the normal Time and Attendance operations SPICA terminals can be configured to identify 60 named user-definable special events which can be utilized to monitor activities other than normal reporting in and out of work. This is achieved via the dynamic user-friendly keyboard that our terminals are equipped with. Such keyboard can be set-up to monitor events like: Business Duty, Personal Errands, Breaks, Education and others.

Fingerprint Recognition
Biometric identification is becoming increasingly important and widely used. Fingerprint recognition is currently the most popular of such technology. SPICA have been building it for a number of years, have had very positive experiences with it and have received a number of gratifying commendations. The use of a fingerprint verification unit can completely do away with a need for cards, while it can also be used as an additional security element for the prevention of the "lending" of cards.

Access Control
These Access Control Systems are computerized real-time systems with distributed intelligence capable of operating full functionalities even in standalone (offline) mode, i.e. when ‘no communication to the Host Application’ eventualities occur. Each terminal is intelligent enough to recognize online and offline situations automatically, validates access rights and schedules / time zones (even in offline mode) and can also receive sensor inputs such as ‘open door’ sensors, alarm signals etc. Recognition media is very flexible supporting most RFID Proximity Card technology major brands together with the state-of-the-art BioScrypt Fingerprint Readers.
The system also includes a Graphical Live Monitoring module from which the user can monitor events visually and graphically using scanned floor plans and other maps.
Scalability is also a very important feature of our systems where it allows fully operational phased implementations of large systems offering very flexible connectivity options. These systems can be applied to a variety of applications such as access control to and within buildings, parking areas, Elevators etc.

SPICA Time & Space Software Suite
SPICA - Time & Space software is a proven and reliable product running world-wide on nearly a thousand installations, managing hundreds of thousands of users, and recording millions of events every day. Its advanced modularity and client-server architecture make it a good fit for the vast majority of IT infrastructure configurations. Time management in particular is greatly enhanced by visually representing and handling data. Such an approach offers a broader view of the data and improved oversight and understanding of information managed by the system. It also provides faster and easier navigation through the proverbial "sea of numbers" that time management typically entails. This strong and interactive visualisation boosts Time & Space productivity to a new level compared to conventional software packages, which are based on traditional form and table views.

Much attention has been devoted to the design of the graphically rich user interface, which offers quick visual insight and ensures fast and easy manipulation of data across the system. For example, time segments are colour-coded and shown against the time-line, calculation details are presented as charts, schedules are represented as graphical objects, access control is monitored visually, and so on. The views normally show large amounts of data quickly allowing fast and easy navigation throughout the system.
